Overload Principle

Overload Principle is one of my favorite descriptions of how I need to work out in order to keep seeing results.

To truly benefit, we need to find that comfortable place, push past it and continue to push even further each time we exercise.  Just at the moment when your mind tells you that you are too tired to continue, keep going!

Overload Principle IS uncomfortable, but it can be the difference between getting the results you want and not making much progress at all.

This week body-weight training is a good place to begin.  This type of training requires no equipment and can be done just about anywhere.  Benefits of body-weight training?  Increase in muscle tone, reduces fat, develops a strong core, and improves range of motion.  Body-weight training is also less strenuous than heavy weight lifting.

What types of exercises?

Lunges, Push-ups, Squats, Back Extensions, Ab Bridge, Sit-ups, Crunches.

Anyone starting a new fitness program should consult a doctor before exercising.  Drink plenty of fluids to stay well hydrated.
